In this role, you’ll support our veterinarians and technicians with treatments, procedures, lab testing, patient care, and client education, ensuring the highest quality care for our feline patients.

Patient Care
- Maintain patient cleanliness and comfort while minimizing fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS).
- Safely restrain patients, monitor their conditions, and report changes to the veterinarian.
- Recognize contagious diseases, follow protocols, and assist with treatments (e.g., pedicures, nail trims, fluid administration, vaccine preparation).
- Record detailed medical histories and complete medical records accurately.
- Support exams, admissions, discharges, and ensure patients are fed and medicated.
- Perform basic emergency care, CPR, and intensive care as needed.
Surgical Assistance
- Prepare patients for surgery, monitor anesthesia, and assist in post-operative recovery.
- Perform technical tasks such as placing IV catheters and intubating patients.
- Clean, polish, and scale teeth.
- Take dental radiographs.
- Clean, pack, and sterilize surgical supplies while keeping the surgical area well-stocked.
Diagnostics and Treatments
- Collect and handle lab samples, run in-house procedures, and take radiographs using proper techniques.
- Administer injections (intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous) and perform routine procedures such as suture removals and weight checks.
Medication Dispensation
- Draw up and administer vaccines and fill prescriptions accurately.
- Maintain current knowledge of drug usage and recommendations.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance
- Keep the hospital clean and organized, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- Launder soiled linens and ensure supplies are properly stocked through in-house inventory control.
Personal Conduct and Professionalism
- Adhere to hospital policies, including dress code, punctuality, and work schedule.
- Represent the hospital professionally in all interactions, demonstrating courtesy, tact, and a positive attitude.
- Show initiative by assisting team members during downtime and managing tasks efficiently.
Essential Functions & Qualifications
- Experience: At least one year of recent experience in a veterinary or medical setting is required.
- Education: Graduated from an AVMA-accredited school and have an active CVT license.
- Skills:
- Proficient reading, writing, and math skills with strong English grammar and communication.
- Basic computer skills for managing and recording patient data.
- Ability to properly restrain patients and familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance and more than 40 pounds with assistance.
- Capacity to work energetically through long shifts (often exceeding 10 hours).
